Posted 7 November, 2009 (This may not be an item of great importance to most of the world's inhabitants, but it may have some significance for people who knew the late Brendan Emmett Foley, a fine fellow who graduated from Loyola College in Montreal in 1959. Brendan was, among other things, a poet.) In any event, the news is that his poems have been collected and edited by Sjef Frenken, and printed under the title LOVE WAS LIGHT. For more information, take a look under WRITINGS on this website. And if you can't wait to have a copy, go directly to ORDER. [This book is currently sold out. Posted 5 April, 2009 In concert, 25 April 2009 The trio of Frenken, Froese and Simmonds, assisted by Doug Wicken, will be giving its fourth annual concert (their own songs in round-robin format) on 25 April 2009. The location this year* is the Wellington Town Hall at 246 Main Street in Wellington, Prince Edward County. Tickets are $ 10.00, with proceeds going to the Wellington Public Library Landscaping Programme. Tickets may be purchased at the Wellington Library and at the door. Starting time is 7:30 pm. Sound is courtesy of Loyalist Music. * The previous concerts were held at Ottawa's folk-cafe Rasputin's. Unfortunately that venerable institution was destroyed by fire last summer. 29 February, 2008 The CD Songs to Robert Louis Stevenson is now available.
Songs to Robert Louis Stevenson is a collection of settings by Sjef Frenken of 25 poems from A Child’s Garden of Verses, arranged and performed by Lisa Lapointe and John Klepko. This is the first collection in a projected series entitled SONGS FOR THE INNER CHILD. Songs to Robert Louis Stevenson is a simple, respectful and very melodic musical treatment of Stevenson’s poems, that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. 27 February, 2008 Byte-town Fyfer launches www.byte-town.ca! |
